About Us

The purpose of the Morgan County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is to provide help and healing to children. Our vision is that no child who has experienced abuse will have to suffer in silence. The mission of the Morgan County Child Advocacy Center’s Multidisciplinary Team, which is comprised of the District Attorney and his staff, law enforcement, the Department of Human Resources, and medical and mental health providers, is to provide excellence in the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse.

The CAC provides a safe and caring environment for children and their caregivers.  The CAC provides services to children and adolescents who have been sexually abused, physically abused, and/or exposed to domestic violence. The Morgan County CAC has three main program areas which include forensic interviews and extended forensic interviews, victim advocacy, and therapy. The Morgan County Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency.

The CAC is currently funded through grants and appropriations from the Alabama Department of Economic Affairs, the Alabama Network of Child Advocacy Centers, United Way, the City of Decatur, the City of Hartselle, the Morgan County Commission, the town of Falkville, the Valley Rubber Foundation, the Combined Federal Campaign, and donations by individuals and businesses.  Community support is critical to the continued success and growth of the CAC.

Learning Collaborative

Teams of clinicians come together for three, two-day learning sessions in Huntsville, AL over the course of 12 months. Learning sessions emphasize active learning and cross-team sharing and will include break-outs for participants in different roles. All team members, including the senior leader, clinical supervisor, and clinicians, are required to attend each learning session. It is a learning process that brings together teams from multiple CAC’s to work on improving a process, practice, or system and learning from their collective experiences and challenges. Sponsors are The Duke Evidence-Based Practice Implementation Center, The Southern Regional Children’s Advocacy Center and The Northeast Regional Children’s Advocacy Center. In 2005, the UCLA-Duke National Center for Child Traumatic Stress, the coordinating center for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, launched a Breakthrough Series Collaborative focused on the implementation of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Please contact the CAC at 256-355-1908 if you or your organization would like to make a donation or use the donation form at the bottom of this page.
